What is hydrocolloid technology ?
Hydrocolloid (HDC) technology stems from advancements in wound dressings. In just a few decades, it has revolutionized wound care by promoting the healing of superficial, slightly weeping wounds such as blisters, grazes, and burns.
Hydrocolloids form a viscous gel upon contact with water. They consist of a complex network of polymers that are both hydrophilic (water-absorbing) and hydrophobic (insoluble). Thus, they lock in moisture within a flexible, flow-resistant structure and absorb fluids seeping from the wound, while forming a protective layer over the injured area.¹
These properties create favorable conditions for the healing of the lesion and the skin repair process.
